Guest Reviews
We love to hear feedback from our guests and appreciate them taking the time to spread the word about Ar Fasgadh.
It is fabulous to see so many of our guests becoming good friends and returning year after year.
We are delighted they love Arran as much as we do.

A lodge with EVERYTHING and high quality. Owners are excellent communicators and have thought of everything a mixed age group may need on holiday. From toys for little ones through games and equipment for all ages. Also a superb welcome pack full of local produce.
"Fantastic 5* Lodge"

Absolutely fabulous lodge. Gerry and Susan have lovingly kitted out the lodge with all the amenities that you could possibly wish for. Tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable with some lovely finishing touches, such as quality linen, Sense of Arran toiletries and a welcome basket filled with other Arran goodies. Some homely touches including hair drier & even hot water bottles ( not that we needed them). Had a fantastic stay and Gerry was in touch as and when required. Thanks to you both for allowing us to have the use of your beautiful lodge. See you next time. Andy & Jackie

Very clean and new, a lovely welcome from Gerry and a brilliant location for Blackwaterfoot only a one minute drive down the road.
"Excellent experience"

Outstanding lodge, beautifully furnished, extremely comfortable and equipped to a very high standard. There is a variety of outdoor seating on the decked area which is a pleasant spot to watch the red squirrels and catch the sun. For children, the hosts have equipped the lodge with a variety of toys both indoor and outdoor. Hosts are very warm and welcoming and provided a very generous welcome box. Highly recommend this lodge, you will not be disappointed.
"Excellent self-catering holiday accommodation"

An Fasgadh is a fabulous lodge situated on a pleasant quiet site conveniently situated near Blackwaterfoot Village on the island of Arran. Blackwaterfoot has a well-stocked store and Post-Office, local bakery, general store, and butcher. The Kinloch Hotel and Shiskine Golf Course Clubhouse are worth visiting. The local 12 hole golf course is unique. A super beach, interesting rocks and lots of sand when tide out. Nearby Kings Caves and the Machrie standing stones are well worth visiting. Gerry and Susan, the owners, have equipped the lodge extremely well with everything provided for a holiday on Arran. It is like home from home. Lovely bed linen, plenty of towels and toiletries provided. The welcome box is a really thoughtful touch - with local products and a bottle of fizz to start the holiday. There is even a bottle of local fresh milk provided for your first cuppa. There is a well stocked store-room at the back of the lodge containing with a great variety of items for young and older holiday makers to have some outdoor fun - from golf clubs, kites, balls and so much more. There is a huge balcony around the lodge with plenty of space. It catches the sun at different times of day. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife eating from the many feeders hung from nearby trees. Red squirrels and birds were abundant. We have stayed at An Fasgadh for two years running and can thoroughly recommend as an excellent holiday experience. Many thanks to Gerry and Susan as going out of their way posting a forgotten item to us at home and for being easily contactable if any issue were to arise.

A real gem. Everything you need for a home from home is catered for . The lodge is well placed just outside Blackwaterford . We loved seeing the red squirrels in the garden and the variety of birds. There are many walks on the doorstep with spectacular views . We are looking forward to returning one day.
"Great for families"

We had an amazing week's stay in Ar Fasgadh. It was in a great location, with Blackwaterfoot really close by, and it had everything we needed (and more). We stayed for a week with three children, and they loved watching the birds and red squirrels on the feeders. The property facilities were excellent and Gerry and Susan have thought of everything that you might need. It really was like a home away from home, and it meant we didn't need to overpack e.g. even beach towels and buckets and spades were available. It was very clean and there were lots of little touches to really add to the experience of staying there. There was even a lovely welcome hamper with some local produce on arrival. Thanks again, we would definitely recommend it to others.
"Wonderful find"

We can't believe that you could find anywhere better to stay on this beautiful, fascinating island. The lodge is ideally placed in a quiet setting overlooking distant hills but only a mile from Blackwaterfoot that caters for all one's basic necessities. The lodge is spotlessly clean, modern, and extremely well equipped. Susan and Gerry are exemplary hosts for whom nothing is to much trouble. We would certainly choose to stay here again if we visit the island again.
"Ar Fasgadh offers superb accommodation at quiet and peaceful Torbeg Country Lodges on beautiful Arran"

This was the second time my husband and I holidayed at Ar Fasgadh and no doubt, we will be back sometime for a third visit. Gerry and Susan are a delightful and welcoming couple whose personal mission is to do all they can to enable you to enjoy a very good holiday on the Island of Arran. Every aspect of the accommodation, both inside and outside, is first class. Torbeg is about a mile from Blackwaterfoot which is a lovely coastal location for a family day out. We enjoyed visiting the many tourist attractions and believe there is lots to see and do for all age groups, interests and fitness levels. We had dinner out every evening and enjoyed The Lighthouse at Pirnmill, The Kinloch at Blackwaterfoot, and the Pier Head Tavern at Lamlash to name but a few. Do remember to book a table in advance. Lunch at Arran Distillery, Lochranza was very nice too and there are lots of good places to enjoy lunch. We found more delightful places this time round that we hadn’t seen on our previous visit, e.g. Kildonan Beach and Lagg. Shopping at Arran Aromatics, Arran Cheese and Arran Distillery is a must - you will not be disappointed. Local produce is good quality - meat, fish, vegetables, bakery goods and of course ice cream. It was always nice, after an enjoyable day out, to return to the comfort, peace and quiet of Ar Fasgadh. The generous Welcome Box was much appreciated. Thank you Gerry and Susan.

Gerry and Susan's lodge is fabulous. Tranquil setting just a short distance from Blackwaterfoot - in my opinion the best place to stay in Arran. Really well equipped and such care taken with all the added touches, the welcome package is fabulous. Gerry and Susan provide loads of info about the island and really look after you. I couldn't think of a better place to stay on this amazing island.
